Julia Dworschack
Designer
Julia
Dworschack, recently featured on HGTV's show "Modern Masters",
was the designer behind the project, selected color combinations, stone
materials, wall and floor finishes, as well as fixtures.
She personally executed the trowelled and glazed on all wall finishes
and is the craftsperson responsible for the patina on the copper panels
at the home’s entry way, as well as the gunite faux work at the
grotto.
Her trademark artistry is found on such details as the finishings on all
electrical cover plates —they perfectly blend with their backgrounds.
Before moving to Austin, twelve years ago, Julia executed a multitude
of exquisite and unique finishes in New York City. Today, she executes
decorative finishes, concrete staining, gilding, marbling and many more
techniques in Austin’s finest homes. Julia was recently recognized
by the Austin Heritage Society for her work on historic St.
Mary's Cathedral in downtown Austin.
Julia obtained her BFA from Iowa State University, her MFA in Graphic
Design from the University of Illinois. Additionally she did three years
of post-post graduate work at The Art School in Switzerland.
