Although his business core revolves around home building he also does commercial work which has been as varied as restaurant building to the installation of a CT scanner for a veterinary, or serving as an abatement expert for a city committee. Remodel: Determining Cost

Craftsman Homes of Austin's method to determine cost, possible upgrades and remodel solutions, is not only proven but straightforward.

Initial meeting at the site to discuss expectations, review plans —if any, and acquaint with prospective client. No-charge.
Generation of an initial cost estimate. No-charge.
Follow-up meeting to establish scope and review the cost estimate. No-charge.
A non-refundable deposit equivalent to the 1% to 2% of the written estimate is required at his point. During construction, this deposit will be credited towards future billings.
Generation of Final Design with specifications, material take-offs and bidding. In the eventuality that you would not already have an Architect, and wish to use one, Craftsman Homes of Austin will introduce you to three, or more, outstanding Architects to choose from.
When plans are completed, finishes picked, and subcontractors chosen a Contract is signed and a substantial deposit is claimed. This deposit will be credited towards the final two billings.
Craftsman Homes of Austin does not “invest” in contract projects, and pays upfront, or COD, for all materials. No charge accounts. CHOA pays subcontractors “upon receipt”.
All contracts are “Cost Plus”. CHOA passes along bare, actual costs adding only a very reasonable fee. The Client receives “builder's” discounts and costs.
All receipts, billings, and subcontracts are available for review.
All monthly billings during construction are a “copy and paste” from CHOA's checkbook ledger.
During construction,Craftsman Homes of Austin will establish a convenient time for all parties —during business hours, to meet each week. This ensures consistent schedule reviews, budget reviews, as well as meetings with the Architect, Engineer, Subcontractors, and others as the project demands it.
Craftsman Homes of Austin concentrates on one major project at a time. Steve Wauson is “on site” much of the time eliminating the additonal, and sometime burdensome cost of a Supervisor.
